Hey everyone!
This past week I have not been doing a good job on my "two posts per week goal" have I?
This is what my past few days have looked like:
Saturday: Filled in at First Day Photo. Wrote cello music for Sunday AM.
Sunday: Aaron and I played a cello duet in church (with our church pianist, Diane). It went very well. Lunch with Dad. Nap (from serious lack of sleep). Edited photos till 4am. (But this is what my schedule has been like for the last 2 weeks... I've been off since I got back from Vegas with Aaron, but I haven't yet found a need to get back on schedule... I have to this week though!)
Monday: Drove to Anna's to give her the photos of her stationary! Anna does beautiful stationary design. I will share those with you sometime soon, with her permission, of course! Her website should be up within the next month perhaps?
Edited photos
A few quick errands
Write up of what the Vision Team will present to church council/congregation
Vision Team meeting at church until 9:15pm (we talked about creating a communication committee-- something that is VERY much needed. I am prayerfully considering being a part of it.)
Came home, edited, (and now, a quick blog update and to bed!)
And here's what the rest of the week will look like!...
Tuesday: Filling in at First Day Photo while Erin is on her honeymoon! (Shot her wedding May 5th!) She went to PARIS! Talk about romantic! On Tuesday, I'll also be photographing little Natalie who turned two! She's a red head, so of course she is the cutest little girl in the world to me! Ha:)I photographed her a year ago when she turned one year, and her mom says that she has a lot more hair now! I can't wait!
Wednesday: I have 2 weddings to try to finish editing before the end of the week, so I'll be working all day on these Wednesday!
Thursday: Fill in at First Day Photo. Senior Portrait session with beautiful Andrea in the afternoon. Edit in the evening.
Friday: Edit some more! Other types of office work. Laundry. Pack for Texas (see Sunday for details). Maybe see my husband for at least an hour....? :(
Saturday: Meeting with Becca and Eric-- shooting their wedding in October, and we have yet to meet. Very excited! Finish packing, finish up any editing from the week.
Sunday: Get on plane, leave for Texas to shoot a wedding! Steph's cousin! VERY excited for this location. Rehearsal dinner in PM. I'll be doing some of my business coaching homework in the meantime. Call Aaron, tell him I miss him to pieces!
Monday: Wedding (Yup! The wedding is on a Monday!). I know it will be gorgeous weather! I mean, how can it not be?? (Yay! I've never been to Texas!)
Tuesday: Fly home. Business coaching session in the PM. Go to bed, head spinning with ideas.
Wednesday... Breathe. And then try to finish my website (which I have been saying for the last month, "I'll get it done within the next 2 weeks!).

Good music for editing! (And a bit of music babble:))
I really enjoy listening to good music while I'm editing (as opposed to listening to bad music?). I like a REALLY wide variety of music, but for the most part, I like alternative or indie music while editing. Something that inspires, has emotion, and keeps my focused. For some interesting reason, the rhythms and sounds of this type of music keeps me more focused than other types of music. Maybe because it has a more predictable sound than say, some classical music(it gets loud, and then soft, and is sometimes inconsistent-- and I'm always trying to listen to the cello part, since that's what I play!). Also, with country music, you need to listen to the words-- there is not usually any musically complex about country music. With alternative, I don't have to listen to the lyrics to feel the emotion. Hmm.
Today I was listening to Dishwalla. Most of you probably know one of their songs, "Counting Blue Cars." (The title probably doesn't ring a bell. Go to their Myspace page HERE, scroll down and click on that song. You'll likely know it. Not their best song, IMO, but their most popular.)"Candleburn" never disappoints to create emotion. To listen to bits of the other tracks, click HERE and scroll down.
They came out with their CD Opaline in 2002, and it is a fantastic album, yet so unpublicized. I saw them at a big block party that year, and fell in LOVE with JR's voice. He absolutely has a gift.
I don't have time to watch TV much, so I watch my favorite performers of American Idol on YouTube after they perform. I've always thought David Cook should sing a Dishwalla song... he has that type of memorizing voice, and if he sang the high notes that JR(lead singer of Dishwalla) sings, the audience would melt.
Anywho, so I thought today, "Whatever happened to Dishwalla??" I couldn't really find anything from doing a quick google search, and I felt really sad-- because I thought it would be such a waste of talent if JR didn't sing anymore and Dishwalla never went on tour anymore? While I only go to a concert or so a year (not including orchestra concerts) I actually felt really sad about that thought that I would never hear them again. I had such an emotional connection with their music. Well, I looked on their Myspace page and it said JR is coming out with a solo album in May. I'm extremely exited. HERE is his page. "Winter Sun" is a good song. "Angels or Devils" was on Opaline, but it seems he varied it from the original. Love it either way. Can't wait to see what else is on the album.
So maybe there's hope to seeing JR in concert again? Here's a video someone posted on YouTube. Bad sound quality, but shows
that he ROCKS. (You know how sometimes you see a concert, and the singer can't sing in tune? This is NOT the case with JR from my experience.)
Another:
Alright, done with the babble. Just a bit passionate:) These guys never got the publicity they deserved.

New Lightroom Version
To all my photography friends who use Lightroom: You may have noticed that you are being prompted to download the newest version of Lightroom (1.4.1). I read online that we should be sure to backup our current catalogs before downloading the new version.

Kate & Dan's Wedding!
We'll see if I can do as I promised and catch up on my blogging! So far so good! (2 posts per week at least!)
Without further ado, here are some photos of Kate and Dan's Wedding!
Kate getting ready:
Peeking out the window at the guys, who were on their way in:
Dan and his dudes:
Their first meeting in her dress:
Some time alone:
Kate and Dan planned a bit of time in so that we could drive over to a park that was just a couple minutes away to get some outdoor shots. It was incredibly gorgeous outside-- I'm so glad we had that time!
Steph took this shot-- love it!
Ceremony time!
(proud Dad:))
(I wonder what she is whispering!)
Reception!
Mmmm! Carrot Cake! (not to mention like, 6 other types!)
Cheers!

Out of the office... kind of!
Hey everyone!
I'll be out of the office until Saturday... BUT I'll still be working... just at a different office!
My make-shift office in a Las Vegas hotel room! Aaron has some training for work at a conference this week,
so I thought I might as well go with! I'll be working during the day, and going out to eat and night.
Here's me at my desk for the week--Nothing new here...(uploaded from my new cell phone)...
But here's the view behind me..a bit different than my usual view:) :
Way better than my home office view, I'd say! :-D
My aunt Judy lives out here, and I was able to see her when Steph and I were out here a few weeks ago for the WPPI convention.
Judy took us hiking in the Red Rock Canyon one day-- SO gorgeous. I hardly ever get to see my aunt, so two times in
a year is a treat! Aaron and I may catch a show one night too. We'll see!
It's not exactly the easiest thing editing photos inside when it's so beautiful outside-- We're staying
at the MGM and it has an incredible pool area! I wish that editing outside was an option, but when you have to
actually see the computer screen, editing in the sun isn't that easy:( But again-- at least I have a fantastic view,
and for my lunch break, I can eat outside!
Steph and I shot Erin and Matt's wedding on Saturday, and it was so beautiful!
Jessica Person was a guest as well (we have all worked for her and her husband Brad for First Day Photo), and it would
have been a sin for her not to bring her camera, so she came and shot with us! We had a blast!! She already
has some up from the wedding. See some of her photos on here blog HERE!
Thanks so much for shooting with us Jess-- I hope we get to do it again, sometime! You are so talented, and a ton of fun.
And Congratulations, Erin and Matt!! I look forward to editing your photos! You're going to love them!

Taxes!
Who doesn't love doing taxes!!?
I have an amazing tax lady this year to help me though, since I have so much other stuff to keep track of now having business expenses and such.
It's really funny... Steph and I were just saying, "Where does all the money go...?"
I sat down and figured out all the business expenses in the last year. All I can say is "WOW. THAT'S where it all went!" LOL!
I'm very careful with how I spend my business money though. I usually do a lot of research on equipment and products so that I know I'm getting the best-- and I also try to find the best deal. www.resellerratings.com has helped me a lot-- I have ordered equipment from Canoga Camera, B&H, Adorama, Calumet, and Profeel. Beach Camera also is a good company. They each have great prices and awesome customer service. I get memory cards (Lexar and SanDisk) when they are on sale at Best Buy, B&H and even Office Depot. Aaron has done all of the hardware purchasing-- He's got a Computer Science degree... I think I'll let him handle that:) He saved us a lot of money by purchasing separate parts and building our desktop computer. He's good at researching the best products and prices too. It's important to do researching when you're going to buy such important equipment!
My friend Erin is starting her first year in business and we were talking about the list of things that you have to get in the first year of business (equipment, software, hardware, websites, educational stuff)-- The list is SO long! My list is definitely shorter this year, but I'm thinking the "list" never goes away!
I can at least say that of the business purchases I have made, I only regret two of them!
1) The bigger camera bag I got. It is so unbalanced and awkward to carry! But, I am thankful I have a bag to put all my equipment in. A bigger bag was necessary. It's kind of funny, though...it has this really long random strap on the bottom of it (it really serves no purpose). I try to tuck the strap in, and it always falls out and tickles my legs or drags on the ground, or gets caught in things. Steph and I carpooled to a reception once, and she goes, "WHAT is that NOISE...??" We couldn't figure it out, and then she goes, "IT'S YOUR CAMERA BAG STRAP!! haha!!!" It was caught in the car door and was flapping against the side of the car as we were driving! HAHA!! When I get home, I always forget to cut it off or do SOMETHING with it. Maybe I'll do that before this weekend's wedding.
2) Batteries!!! I went through SO many AA batteries for my flash this year-- I finally invested in rechargeable batteries at the end of the year. I should have done that sooner!
I hope I can at least get SOME money back this year. I have no clue what to expect, since 2007 was my first full year in business. It will be interesting.
Oh, taxes...
